source notes & method
2014 and 2024 values from PIB (Dec 2024); a Sep 2024 PIB note gives 978 km in 23 cities. The 2025 value (1,083 km, 25 cities) is from a written Lok Sabha reply by MoS Tokhan Sahu on 11 Dec 2025, as reported by Metro Rail Today; the Minister cited 'more than 1,185 km' in 26 cities in Oct 2026 (speech, not charted). Government totals include NCR lines and the Delhi–Meerut RRTS, so they exceed UITP's 'metro' count (881 km, end-2023). 4× is derived (993 / 248 = 4.0).
