After months of campaigns, previews and demonstrations, March 28th 2016 marked the day when the first batch the much-anticipated Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) shipped to those who had pre-ordered the headset. Much to one lucky buyer’s surprise, Palmer Luckey, co-founder of Rift, hand-delivered the very first headset in person. Ross Martin from Alaska, USA, was among the first to put in his order when it became available back in January this year.

Prior to this release, the only versions of the Rift available where those sent out and demonstrated so that developers could familiarize themselves with the platform that’s tipped by technologists to revolutionize the way we consume and interact with content.
